Job openings occasionally occur on our permanent staff of resource professionals. Seasonal forestry technician positions are generally available each year. Resumes for seasonal technician positions on timber sale preparatory/timber marking crews and timber inventory crews are generally solicited annually from January through February for the upcoming field season.

  • Position

    W. M. Beaty & Associates, Inc. is seeking applicants for permanent and seasonal forestry technician positions starting during the 2025 field season.  Successful applicants will work jointly with Registered Professional Foresters on all aspects of field operations, with a focus on timber sale preparation, Timber Harvesting Plan preparation, timber cruising, and wildlife surveys.  In addition, successful candidates will gain exposure to many forest management aspects with one of northern California's longest standing forest management and consulting firms.  W. M. Beaty & Associates, Inc., based in Redding, California, manages 143,000 acres of private forestland in northeastern California for long-term clients while also providing consulting services to other forestland owners and managers.  Forestry technician positions have the potential for year-round employment based upon weather conditions, with potential for permanent advancement.  Appropriate equipment and transportation will be provided.  These positions will be based out of Redding, California and will serve Shasta, Siskiyou, Modoc, Lassen, and Plumas counties.

    Responsibilities

    • Timber marking

    • Timber cruising

    • Harvest boundary and watercourse protection zone flagging

    • Assisting with Timber Sale Administration & Timber Harvesting Plans

    • Wildlife & Botanical Surveys

    • Reforestation

    Qualifications

    • Familiarity with northern California tree species, basic mensuration, and silvicultural techniques

    • Skills in map reading, Avenza, GPS, and mensuration tools

    • Driver’s license and ability to be insured on company policy

    • High degree of self-motivation

    • Must be able to hike and navigate steep, brushy terrain

    Compensation

    Hourly wages from $20.00 - $25.00 based on qualifications and experience.

Beaty & Associates, Inc. is seeking applicants for a full-time Registered Professional Forester position to work in northeastern California.  The successful applicant will work on all aspects of field operations, with a focus on Timber Harvesting Plan preparation and timber sale administration.

Beaty & Associates, Inc., is one of Northern California's longest standing forest management and consulting firms based in Redding, California.  The company manages 143,000 acres of private forestland across a wide landscape in northeastern California.  This position is located out of our main office in Redding.

    Responsibilities

    The principal duties of this position are all field reconnaissance, planning, and preparation of Timber Harvesting Plans, timber sale contract administration, and assistance with numerous timberland related management activities.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry or related field, have a California Registered Professional Forester License or be able to obtain one within a year, have a minimum of one year of experience which includes Timber Harvesting Plan preparation, submittal, and administration.  Ability to function well during all seasons in mountainous forested environments using forestry field tools is required as are computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, and geographic information systems.  A high degree of self-motivation, well developed communication skills, desire to work as a team member, and the ability to develop and maintain respectable professional relationships within a complex regulatory environment is essential.

    Salary & Benefits

    The salary range is $80,000 to $100,000 and will be based on qualifications and experience.  Benefits include company vehicle, vacation and sick leave, healthcare plan, 401(k) retirement plan with generous company match, and cell phone.
